RE: measure amp draw?
Camping World sells a handy meter - you plug it into an AC outlet and plug your 110 volt device into it. Reads amperage/watts directly.
RE: Parking Travel Trailer in Yard
I'm a bit frightened by your bit about "all jacks down". I would definitely NOT put all jacks down for storage. Wheels sinking into the ground with jacks down could bend frame (not good). I store on 2x12's but JACKS UP!!!
RE: Reciever Hitch Cover?
I put a throw away clear plastic cup over the balland tie a WalMart bag over that. The cup lets me reuse the baggy several times.
RE: Running an RV refridgerator with an inverter?
I put an inverter in my Prowler for the fridge as you MUST turn of propane on the ferries. I wired it with 8 guage wire and kept it close to the batteries.
RE: Coleman?
Reminiscing about Coleman is a real trip down memory lane. Too bad such a good name now imports junk.
My other car is an American made Buick.
RE: Water Availability
Hey Mysusie...
If you folks want to head toward the Olympic Penninsula, email me here or at home at dlindner@olypen.com. We have several WONDERFUL (and reasonably cheap) places with awesome surroundings pretty close to home.
RE: OK to leave windows open while travelling?
I agree with NOT pulling with windows open. Aerodynamics play into the equation heavily. If windows/vents open caused POSITIVE pressure in the rig, maybe okay. But if negative you are sucking all that gunk into your trailer. I know of no good way to measure it. Can also effect holding tank venting (like to the inside - yukkk!).
So I close it up pretty tight going down the road and open everything up and turn on the vent fan after we get there.
